Generational God

God has reminded me that He is a generational God. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – that is how He was known in much of the Old Testament. This is good news. Why? Because God cares about our families.

God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Or I can say the God of Reva, Judith, and Kelita! The God of James, Kelita and my children! The God of you, your kids and your grandkids! Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Remember, Abraham didn’t do everything right. Remember Ishmael? Remember when he didn’t trust God enough with Sarah and he lied and said she was his sister… almost getting her taken from him by Pharaoh? Then Isaac lied similarly about Rebekah and Jacob lied to get the birthright blessing? Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. That was how God announced Himself over and over. He is a covenant God!

It matters not what it looks like- those people were not perfect yet God did not abandon His covenant with them and He won’t with us either.

Psalm 78 1- 7 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. 2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: 3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. 4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. 5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: 6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: 7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

God is a generational God and EVERY promise He has made to us will be kept! He is the covenant God of generations. If you had godly parents, hallelujah, if you didn’t, let this covenant start with you.

Acts 16:31 (Voice) 31 Just believe—believe in the ultimate King, Jesus, and not only will you be rescued, but your whole household will as well.

God is a generational God!
